Dietary Diversity

We are continuously introducing new dietary choices at our restaurants, aiming to provide customers with more nutritious and tasty choices. Our approach begins with food diversity, offering a variety of high-quality protein options including chicken, beef, seafood, duck, and pork along with grains, fruits and vegetables.


We are also catering to customer demand for plant-based food and beverages. In 2023 we launched a number of plant-based products and drinks, including a mung bean lily oat drink, plant-based 'tuna and ham' toast, and plant-based 'ham and egg' bagel sandwiches. Through these additions, we are actively promoting healthier, low-carbon impact lifestyles.

Multiple Cooking Methods

Over 90% of breakfast menu items and 60% of all-day items at KFC and 90% of all-day items at Pizza Hut are prepared using multiple cooking methods, including roasting, boiling, sautéing, and grilling.

Nutrition and Health research
for the catering industry

We established the Chinese Nutrition Society (CNS)-Yum China Dietary Health Science Foundation jointly with the Chinese Nutrition Society.
By 2023, the Foundation has provided over RMB 26 million to support over 100 projects.

As of the end of 2023, the Dietary Health Science Foundation has supported over 100 projects, with total funding exceeding RMB 26 million.
Promoting Healthy Lifestyles

Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle and Raising Public Awareness of Nutrition and Health through multiple channels.

Conduct nutrition and health projects for different groups of people. We also run official accounts on WeChat and TikTok called "Best Foods & Best Sports".

YUMC Cup

Yum China launched the YUMC Cup knowledge contest in 2017. Since then, we regularly hold the YUMC Cup for Food Safety and Nutritional Health Knowledge Competition. The contest is designed to increase the awareness and knowledge of food safety and healthy lifestyles among college students.

Under the guidance of the State Administration for Market Regulation, YUMC Cup 2021 was jointly held by Yum China, China Market Regulation News, the Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology, and Alipay's Answering Planet. In 2023, the event attracted over 11.48 million knowledge quiz participants and involved more than 888 universities from 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions.

Campaign of Food Safety and Nutritional Education for the Youth

Focusing on the healthy growth of teenagers, the Campaign of Food Safety and Nutritional Education for the Youth includes various education activities on food safety and nutritional knowledge. Since its launch in 2016, there have been over 770 public education activities held in 77 cities across the country, with more than 400,000 people participating in offline activities.

Yum China held open day activities by organizing tours for children at KFC restaurants and logistics centers. The tours help children understand the whole process of food preparation from source to processing, enhance their understanding of food safety, and support them to develop healthy living habits through the combination of education and entertainment activities.

In 2023, the program organized by Yum China and KFC China, the National Working Committee for the Wellbeing of the Youth, China Health Education Center as well as China Educational Daily. . It was introduced into over 100 schools in 10 cities such as Nanjing, Weihai and Dalian with nationwide public education activities conducted for primary and secondary school students, advocating a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet and exercise.

National Nutrition Week

Yum China has been an active supporter of the National Nutrition Week, jointly initiated by the Chinese Nutrition Society. Yum China shared nutritional knowledge on tray liners in KFC restaurants across China and has reached more than 160 million customers.

Best Foods & Best Sports

Yum China's official WeChat account and TikTok account Best Foods & Best Sports, was officially established since 2017. It posts everyday stories and brief videos to promote public health education and raise awareness for balancing exercise with a healthy diet.
