Yum China has responded swiftly to natural disasters and is firmly committed to providing aid to affected communities.
In December 2023, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck Jishishan County of Linxia Prefecture in Gansu province. Yum China, along with its brands, once again joined hands to urgently donate 2 million RMB and 2,500 family relief kits through the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation to support the severely affected areas in Gansu and neighboring Qinghai provinces. KFC and Pizza Hut quickly coordinated to provide hot meals and rushed to the earthquake-stricken area to deliver warm and comforting meals to front-line rescue workers.
In August 2023, affected by Typhoon Doksuri, extreme rainfall occurred in multiple locations in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, leading to severe floods and geological disasters. Yum China promptly donated 1 million RMB through the China Foundation for Rural Development to support flood prevention and disaster relief work in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
In September 2022, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit Luding County in Ganzi Prefecture. Yum China sprang into action, conducting welfare checks on our local employees and their families. We quickly dispatched tens of thousands of KFC products and beverages to the impacted regions. Furthermore, our brands donated RMB one million to the affected areas in Sichuan, channeled through the China Rural Development Foundation, to support disaster relief and post disaster reconstruction efforts.
In October 2021, there were heavy rainfalls in Shanxi province. KFC and Pizza Hut brands immediately offered their help and delivered meals to frontline flood-relief workers and evacuated residents to contribute to resolving food supply issues. Many employees selflessly participated in volunteer work to actively provide service to the local communities.
In July 2021, Henan province was hit by a rare bout of extremely heavy rainfall. The Company, together with its KFC, Pizza Hut, and Little Sheep brands, delivered more than 47,000 meals to disaster-stricken areas. KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in those areas also extended their working hours to provide resting space and food.
